ABOUT
About Me--My hair venture started when I was 11 years old after unexpectedly having to do my hair on my own for my 8th grade prom. Due to my inexperience, my hairstyle wasn't the best, but it worked for me and I felt good. It took me a long time to realize I was beautiful and it took me too long to realize no one could make me feel beautiful if I didn’t believe it first. I tried to copy others thinking that if I looked how they did I would feel better about myself, but that wasn’t me. I needed to learn how to be unapologetically me. All throughout high school, I kept up with the latest hair trends and continuously practiced on myself as well as my friends. By the time I graduated from high school, I grew tired of doing hair and just wanted to focus on being a college student. That lasted about 3 months. A friend asked me to help her with her hair, then it became two, then three, and before I knew it I was back in it. I was then offered a job to assist a family friend at her salon (Charmainehashands4hair). After being mentored for the next two years, I began to master the proper techniques in hair styling. Working there opened my eyes to the ups and downs of hair. I witnessed the mental breakdown of one client after she woke up to her hair falling out along with the occurrence of other personal struggles. After seeing my mentor make her a wig to help disguise her damaged hair, I became intrigued in the idea of making wigs. Personally, while wearing wigs I was able to hide my own hair journey similar to many clients from the salon. I was able to feel that confidence on the outside yet again. After studying countless videos, I learned the ins and outs of wig making. I am now incredibly skilled in performing my craft. I know it is inevitably impossible to please everyone but what is important to me is the impact I make in people’s lives. That is what it means to be beautifully poised!
About the Brand--Poised Beautee is not just a business it’s a lifestyle. This brand was created to help women of all ages feel good in their skin. Anyone can create a business and sell something, but not everyone cares about their customers feeling good about the product. The value of this brand is worth more than a number on a price tag. It’s about the smile on your face when you look in the mirror and see a reflection you love -- one where you begin to admire all the beauty looking back at you. My ultimate goal is to help women (especially those at a younger age) know their worth and understand how important it is to love yourself, so that they may grow into the powerful women we aspire to be in today's society.
